The digital archives projects of Taiwanese writers have contributed to the infrastructure for the study of the history of Taiwan literature. Wu Zhuoliu Archive is one of the projects launched by the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) digital team of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). With the generous consent of the family of Wu Zhouliu, the RCHSS digital team integrated a wide range of information to construct and complete the website in 2014. The Wu Zhuoliu Digital Archive showcases Wu’s life chronology, introduction to his works, excerpts of his important works, research bibliography, manuscripts, videos, photos, and a reader’s guide. It also presents a special section of “Wu Zhouliu’s World Travels,” which made use of the two digital platforms of Tour Builder and Google Earth to combine the life and works of Wu Zhuoliu with texts, photography, historical data, maps and satellite photography. This section aims to show how Wu Zhuoliu lived his life to the fullest as it welcomes the readers to virtually follow his footsteps around the world. The website is presented in both Chinese and English to reach out to readers worldwide. All interested parties are welcome to show the online link to the Wu Zhuoliu Digital Archive on their own websites.
The RCHSS team would like to express its gratitude to Wu Zhuoliu’s son, Wu Wanhsin, and granddaughter, Wu Hsintsun, for authorizing and supplying RCHSS with materials to enrich the Archive. The RCHSS digital team, led by Professor Chiu Kuei-fen, consists of Dr. Chen Yu-yi of the NCHU Department of Management Information Systems, and research assistants Wu Ming-lun, Tsai Yi-lin and Wang Hsiao-yu. We would like to acknowledge the contributions by Professor Wang Yu-Hua of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of the National United University, who collected, selected and arranged materials for the database, and managed copyright issues. We would also like to thank Professor Wang’s assistants Lin Gen-de, Yang Fei-yuan and Chen Si-hua. Special thanks go to Wu Zhuoliu Art and Cultural Center at Shihwu Town, Miaoli County, for providing assistance to the project. We are particularly thankful to the Department of Taiwan Languages and Communication of National United University and the Chair of the Department, Professor Sun Jung-kuang, for authorizing RCHSS to use the video footage of the stage performance of Orphan
of Asia and the 2012 Wu Zhuoliu and Hakka Literature Conference.
